Every woman knows that wearing lipstick can sometimes be a revolutionary act. Society has traditionally dictated that women don’t wear lipstick — which leads to the phenomenon of lipsticks being sold on the shelves but not on aisle displays or in stores — but not anymore. There’s a trend now among women to wear makeup more; some even say it’s easier for them than wearing a ton of clothes.
There are social reasons, however, to wear lipstick. A new notion of “feminine” beauty has been taking hold in Western life. If a woman is perceived as all packaged up and immaculate and beautiful, she might be judged as being artificial. Some women are finding that they can project a softer image, or even break out the cosmetics, by wearing just lipstick — or welcome any fashion statements they can make.
Wearing makeup does not make you more attractive; however, there are reasons for women who wear lipstick to feel better about themselves:
1) Wear lipstick if you feel more confident as a woman and want to express yourself.
2) Wear lipstick if you want to feel more feminine.
3) Wear lipstick if you want to feel more adult and less childish (if that’s what you’re going for).
4) Wear lipstick if you want to be taken more seriously, in a business or among colleagues.
5) Wear lipstick if you find the way it looks pleasant on your face. (But keep in mind that not everyone likes the look.)
6) Wear lipstick if it makes you feel beautiful inside — like an artist would.
7) Wear lipstick if you feel sexy and want to look your best.
8) Wear lipstick if it makes you a better friend, daughter, or sister.
9) Wear lipstick if you think of yourself as an outgoing person and want to communicate that to others. (It’s an exaggeration tool.)
10) Wear lipstick if it’s a hot new trend or the color currently in fashion.
11) Wear lipstick if you want to show yourself more sophisticatedly. (You will attract more sophisticated people that way.
In conclusion, wearing lipstick is a choice you make to express yourself. It can be practical, or it can be just for fun and comfort. It’s funny to think that the reason women wear lipstick is not just cosmetics; it’s how a person expresses themselves.
